I vote the South Bank too. Just walking along from Waterloo to the Tate Modern is fab. There's so much to see and do. Kids love the Aquarium and there's the Eye of course. If you haven't been to the South Ken museums recently then you really ought to check them out. You'll have such a fab time. The Natural History museum, which of course has the dinosaurs also currently has a fab butterfly 'safari' and a great interactive human body exhibit. by Siobhan

The Duck Tour which is an amphibious vehicle that starts with a tour round the main sites of London and then goes down a slipway into the Thames and goes up to Houses of Parliament and back again. Great fun and different but need to book in advance. by arbymore

Next sunny free day, get yourself to Hampstead Heath. Start between the Ladies and Mens bathing ponds (near Highgate), make your way up the hill through Parliament Hill (amazing view of London), watch the people flying kites, continue on to the Mixed bathing pool (well worth a swim here if it's a baking hot day). Walk through Vale of Health and head towards the animal enclosure in Golders Hill, the Water garden, then find the pergola. Continue the walk around and end up with a nice pint in an old pub somewhere in Hampstead. I did this last Sunday and can thoroughly recommend it. Takes about four to five hours in all. by Amunt
