Have you considered the Mac book? I recently switched over to using a Mac and it's a much better experience, I'd recommend a Mac now over a PC every time by simstew

I love my mac book but they are big pennies. I also really like the little asus netbook which would do all you need and much less money. Just make sure you get the windows type. by bad_housewife

Hmmm, have been looking at both macs and netbooks. I am head over heels in love with Mac Book but may have problems paying for it. Have you got a netbook bad_housewife? Will look at Asus more closely! by wannabe_goddess

I've got a samsung R530 and I love it. I know it's not a mac but it was a reasonable price and does everything I need. The battery lasts about 2 hours, maybe more I think but never really notice. Bought it from amazon.co.uk which had the best price and was delivered very quickly. by soosy

Soosy, that's brilliant thanks. I saw one in one of the hipermarkets here and it really took my fancy. Nice red lid (shallow I know) and great price. Thanks so much for responding. by wannabe_goddess

You're welcome. I loved the red too! But I also had to buy a Windows Home Students office pack (£70 on amamzon) to get the word, powerpoint and excel etc by soosy

I have asus eepc. Super little bit of kit so long as coffee and children don't mix with it! Belongs to children now. by bad_housewife

I've got an Acer Aspire which is great - esp for a relatively cheap brand. Has huge memory for the price of other laptops with half as much! I also bought off Amazon - which was the best value I found by far. by eamc

The main reason I didn't go for a netbook was because I wanted a cd/ dvd player. The other thing was the size of the keys on the keyboard. by soosy

Ah ha, am writing this on new macbook. Long story involving other half buying me a PB laptop (mid price) and himself a macbook (€€€) and then finding his music production software wouldn't run on macbook so I got it! What a result! by wannabe_goddess
