We've got snow in Cumbria but haven't tried out sledging yet. I have just looked at the selection on amazon and I'm amazed at how much they cost. I thought you could get a plastic one for a fiver, but it seems not. Surely its the quality of the slope and the snow that makes a difference too. by soosy

Unfortunately even the more expensive ones don't seem to be very good quality. We found a large Hamax sledge which sounded good but several reviewers said theirs had cracked on second outing. Also most suppliers seem to be out of stock at the moment - not sure whether that is because they have sold out or haven't got them in yet. by Sarson

They all go up in price and out of stock as soon as the snow starts - demand and all that. We bought ours a cheap plastic one last February and it had it's first outing yesterday! I'd recommend a wooden one with metal runners because our one from when we were children is still going strong! But cheap plastic is doing us ok for now. Buying out of season is best though - not much help now I know. by cakeshaped
