Sim, the alternative is wear rubber gloves and use paper towels to clean which can then be thrown away. If you do use a brush make sure you dip it in bleach before storing! I use a Duck stick with disposable brushheads so my boys don't play with a dirty brush, but I will return to a loo brush once my boys are old enough to be trained to clean after themselves!! by soosy

Yes to a loo brush but if you live in a hard water area and use eco friendly loo cleaner, limescale is a pain. Any tips people? by Sarson

I don't use bleach, but that's more because I have cats than anything else. And bleach won't get rid of limescale, it will just, er, bleach it. by Tiggertoo

bad_housewife needs help with NITS! (yes, I know, I know all there is to know about all the over the counter lotions potions and combs - just ask!). Now has anyone got a secret recipe to keep them away? (Tea tree oil a no no, as was hairspray and white vinegar...)

It's a bit radical but you could try shaving their hair off. A certain person I know mum did this and it's very effective. by sim

I think daily combing is the best way. Bit time consuming but does avoid horrid chemicals. by lizroz

We nit comb conditioner through once a week. As long as we do it regularly they don't seem to reappear. Wish we could have a lice nuking day where every child in the world got treated and eradicated the horrid head pests! by Goosey

Yes, conditioner is supposed to be good. They can't grip on to shiny hair. Also, I think their bodies have sort of capillary action that means conditioner can kill them?? by Siobhan

The ONLY thing that ever worked for my kids is combing, combing and more combing. DO this religiously and you stand a small chance of breaking the cycle. Apart from that, rub in Neem Oil and always rinse their hair with tea made from rosemary - the nits hate these herbs and will be put off jumping on. There is also a wives-tail that eating the nits makes your blood taste unsavoury to live nits. by lesanto

Ebay it. My hubbie sells and buys cars/ m'bikes on there every 6 months or so (he gets bored with them easily). He has never had success with a local paper. If you want tips on posting for a car on there let me know: he is a pro! by soosy

Surprisingly, about 10% of cars on UK EBay are LHD. You can use the field 'drive side' to restrict your search. They're not as cheap as they used to be as demand from migrant workers going back home has pushed up prices. by DavidAB
