I have the same problem and store statements and lots of things I never use and will probably never use in the future. Best solution is to go through it all with a friend or relative, more as a supporter than a doer. Ask a friend to come over one day and help would be my advice. by sim

OMG, help from a relative??? I know who you are ;) I would start by old toys, followed by clothing (chuck away anything which hasn't been worn for 2 years), and papers/bills/letters if you are a lucky woman like me and have a husband who enjoys piling up 10 year old payslips and bank statements by Dolcemomo

create an account on craigslist and part with anything you are no longer using, and at the same time you would be helping someone who may need those things you no longer use. by emk69

Start slowly. Choose one particular area in one room and tackle that. Make three piles: things you want to keep, things you want to give away/ sell, things you want to dump. Make sure you take the things you want to dump out of the house asap so you don't change your mind. Also make sure your children aren't around to object as I find my boys find a renewed love of their baby toys that they'd totally forgotten they had. by soosy

My advice is not to try and do too much too quickly. Google flylady and her decluttering tips. They rock! Hang on I will link http://www.flylady.net/pages/flyinglessons_declutter.asp She is a bit sickly sweet in places, but really amazing advice on the whole and such a good set of systems Jules 'shiny-sink' W xx by julia1warner
