shrinking a jumper in the wash.....what makes some things shrink and other things stretch, does anyone know?

    It's to do with what kind of fibres the fabric is made from. Wool shrinks in a hot wash as it washes out the air between the fibres - which makes them stick together, and the wool turns to felt. I think it's irreversible - but I have heard some people say they can fix it. Always hand wash your wool jumper - I learnt the hard way! I did once try to deliberately shrink something in the wash, but it came out child sized! It's not a very controllable process... by Someone

    A friend of mine magically made my jumper stretch again - I think they hung it out to dry while it was still wet - I'd love to know if this works! by darrenrmoore
